A message from Tom

Annie, our manager at our Bendigo store, just had me do a motivational business talk for all her staff. She also invited along a few of our suppliers and our regular customers.

Now I tend to get a bit excited when doing my talks and swear a bit (I only say bl**dy & bulls**t). There was this lady who attended and I was quite aware of her as I spoke because she was not very young and sat quite close to the front. I went and spoke with her after I finished and she told me that she loved my talk. But she didn’t approve of my swearing! Her name was Ruby and she is 91 years old! Here she is, at her age, willing to give up an evening to hear a motivational talk and learn something new. WOW!!

I did ask her to pray for me...

KELLY ARMOUR COMES TO BEECHWORTH

From a current media release:

"The Beechworth Historical Re-enactment Group (BHRG) is very proud to announce an exhibition of all four Kelly Gangs suits of Armour for the 2010 Ned Kelly Weekend, next year (6th to the 8th of August 2010). This is the most historical event to happen in Beechworth and is billed to be one of the key tourism events for Victoria in 2010. This is only the fourth time the armour has been together since 1880, and the first time outside a capital city.

This exhibition would not be possible without the support of the State Library of Victoria, Victoria Police Museum, Victoria Museum and Rupert Hammond in conjunction with the Indigo Shire Council for Insurance coverage, and the Beechworth Bakery (home of the famous Ned Kelly pie) as the major sponsor of the event."

Melbourne Cup Day

Melbourne Cup is always a big weekend for us with lots of people taking a 4 day holiday and coming to stay in the country. There were lots of people that visited our bakeries in Echuca, Ballarat, Healesville, Bendigo plus big crowds in Beechworth, which had the added bonus drawcard of the Wangaratta Jazz Festival only 40km’s away. Our staff love any excuse to dress up, it breaks the routine and gets them out of their comfort zone and Melbourne Cup is always a favourite. Our staff always love to do that little bit extra.

Tom in the street

I am doing a cooking demonstration on Sunday May the 17^th in the main street of Beechworth for our annual Harvest Festival. I don’t find it easy doing these demonstrations in front of all the locals. In fact not in front of anyone! But the Bakery is a big part of the community and Marty my business partner in one of the organizers of the Festival, so I can’t get out of it.

We would love to see you at the Beechworth Harvest festival.

Tom gets on his bike

This is me in the famous Beechworth Golden Horseshoe Festival parade.
As I often say in my talks, ”Life is like a bike…you gotta keep peddling, even if
you do fall off at times, but the secret to success is to get back on and
give it another go".
