Some things never change...

by Lanie in Bakery News

We had a phone call today from a lovely man who offered to send us a photo of the shop his great aunt and uncle owned, which happens to be the very same building that is now the original Beechworth Bakery.

Back in 1938 it was called E. Gribble's Dining Rooms, and was owned by Elizabeth & Elijah Gribble.

This is further support of the fact that this building has always been used for food-related businesses. There is much to suggest that back in the day when Ned Kelly was around he indulged in some pies from these premises , since Beechworth was Joe Byrne and Aaron Sherritt's home town and they often bought a pie at Dunlop's Scotch Pie Shop (as it was known then).

Anyway, it's a great shot that shows that luckily not much has changed on the outside of this historic building. The inside, however, badly needed an upgrade by the time Tom O'Toole bought the building, and I'm sure everyone will agree that it's very nice the way it is now.
